Oyster Harbor Salted Candle
We set out from Oyster Harbor by boat each time we collect sea water to make salt. The harbor is picturesque, sleepy and quaint today but it used to be bustling, ringed by a general store, church and the multiple oyster shucking houses that gave it it's name. Old photos of the harbor show dozens of simple, wooden fishing and oystering boats tied up along the docks, and residents talk of the church bake sales that used to be commonplace.
This candle blends the warm scents of sandalwood and vanilla that we imagine wafting through the air back then. Each candle is hand poured for us by a local, woman-owned candle shop and is made of soy and coconut wax and then topped with a sprinkle of Barrier Islands Salt to bring a piece of the islands to your home. Each one is hand packed in a white gift box and tied with vintage twine.
We use clean fragrances in all of our candles - this means they're free from carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and other potentially hazardous chemicals often found in fragrance.
