COVID-19 Safety Policy

The safety of our customers and our team is our top priority. Fortunately there is currently no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with transmission of COVID-19. You can visit the FDA website to learn more.

Barrier Islands Salt Co. operates a newly renovated production facility at 21209 North Bayside Road in Cheriton, VA. Our facility is licensed by the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS). We follow all CDC & FDA guidelines for safe food handling during COVID-19, including frequent hand washing, frequent disinfection of all work surfaces, wearing gloves while handling food and wearing masks around others.

We're a small, husband & wife operation with no employees. This means we have complete control over our production facility and we're the only ones who've been in it since early March. We've also been practicing what we call 'extreme social distancing' since then, meaning no visits inside any buildings other than our own home and not getting closer than about 10 feet to another human.
