Pure Kosher Sea Salt
Our kosher salt is the perfect salt to use any time a recipe calls for it, or to salt pasta water, season a chicken pre-roasting or to do any other seasoning during cooking. This salt is made during the same process that we use to make our signature flake salt and is simply the smaller, more uniform grain size left behind. Kosher salt is not blessed by a rabbi as some people mistakenly believe - it's simply a term used for a medium grain salt that is used during the meat koshering process. Made entirely by hand, our kosher salt makes every recipe come alive with flavor.
Our saltmaker, David Lee, spent years studying centuries old, artisan salt making techniques and applying them to the unique merroir of the wild & pure waters of the Virginia Coast Reserve, a 130,000 nature preserve naturally filtered through thousands of acres of oyster reefs and eelgrass as each tides rushes in and then heads back out to sea. We collect our water by boat in 60 feet of water eight miles off shore, where the whitecaps of the Atlantic Ocean lick the sandy shore of Cobb Island.
